Jody Kawamata-Chang

For over 30 years, Jody has been a teacher in the State of Hawai’i. She has experience in working with students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6. She has also been a Curriculum Coordinator who worked toward transforming teaching practices in the area of writing. Jody is currently a Technology Resource teacher who works with 1000+ Kindergarten through 6th graders in utilizing technological tools to become more literate learners. Ralph Fletcher, her mentor, inspired her to start and keep a Writer’s Notebook, and Katie Wood Ray helped to transform her practices as a teacher of writing.In short amount of free time, she enjoys perfecting her ninja skills by stalking literacy gurus.
